Paraguay receives the Safe Travels seal from WTTC and announces the opening of borders

The Government of Paraguay announced the opening of the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport from next October 21 and the opening of the Friendship Bridge.

In accordance with the protocol approved by this ministerial portfolio, the passenger who arrives in the country must keep quarantine at his home for 14 days. You can also opt for hostels or health hotels.

The passenger who has a negative COVID-19 test (-) upon entry, demonstrated with the relevant supporting document 72 hours prior to entry, may be quarantined for 7 days. Later, another test can be carried out, if it is negative, you can leave the isolation.

"In all cases, a team from the Ministry of Health will evaluate the travelers who enter the country and it will be determined, according to their documents and the provisions of the Protocol," said Dr. Rolón.

It is important to remember that the hygiene and safety measures that travelers must adopt at all times are implicit in the protocol. That is, physical distancing, mandatory use of masks, hand washing, and other measures that the ministry orders.

Similarly, on October 15, the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez and his Brazilian counterpart Jair Bolsonaro, will have a meeting to formalize the opening of the border at the Friendship Bridge.

The established schedule for the entry of tourists through the Friendship Bridge will be from 05.00 to 18.00. The measure will be evaluated by the Ministry of Health and decisions will be made according to the epidemiological index.

In addition, Paraguay has joined the list of countries in obtaining the Safe Travel Seal granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council, after complying with hygiene and sanitation protocols, generating greater confidence for visitors whenever the authorities decide to open tourist destinations.

The WTTC, which represents the global private travel and tourism sector, designed the seal with the aim of contributing to the responsible and safe reopening of tourism, once the local authorities determine that the conditions exist for it.

The protocols of the World Travel and Tourism Council were developed following the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and are supported by the World Tourism Organization (OMT) and more than 200 CEOs of the main business groups in the sector around the world.

Receiving the Safe Travel Seal is a great responsibility that requires a commitment from the authorities and establishments to strictly comply with hygiene and sanitation protocols.
