Marriott hotels in Cusco reopen for domestic tourists

Cusco is heading towards the tourist reactivation under the new normality and launches an invitation to Peruvians to rediscover and reconnect with its magical corners.

In this framework, Machu Picchu, one of the natural wonders of the modern world, launched free passes to Peruvians; while the hotel industry prepared attractive promotions to welcome national travelers.

One of the hotels that recently opened its doors was the JW Marriott El Convento Cusco, listed as one of the Best Hotels in South America in the Readers' Choice Award from the prestigious Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

Located in the Historic Center of Cusco, the property will receive its guests with a renewed proposal both in rooms –with larger spaces and designs that evoke the greatness of the Inca Empire– and in the gastronomic part.

“We are happy to reopen the doors of our hotel and welcome our guests in renovated rooms, with a design inspired by the reinterpretation of the undeniable importance and beauty of the Inca Empire, within a contemporary and luxurious context. We are sure that prosperous times will come for tourism in Cusco and the rest of the country, ”said Rodrigo Rizzi, General Manager of JW Marriott El Convento Cusco.

In the rooms, guests will be able to appreciate an ancestral sun, handcrafted in leather and bronze, on the back of the bed, as well as a wall of mirrors inspired by the construction of the Inca walls.

On the other hand, the menu of the main restaurant Qespi, run by renowned chef Jonathan Campos, was renewed to embrace, even more, the local flavors in each dish, with fresh products from the farm to the table.

This, even, from any town in Cusco through the new JW Market service, which includes to go and delivery.

As for activities, guests can take part in cooking classes with Chef Campos, where they will learn how to make a trout ceviche or take a walk with him to the famous Mercado de San Juan. The openings of JW El Convento Cusco and Palacio del Inka were aligned to the regulations of local authorities and following the protocols of the Commitment to Cleaning announced by Marriott International, which include the implementation of improved cleaning technologies, such as the use of electrostatic sprinklers. and protective equipment, as well as changes in the cleaning regime and the rearrangement of furniture to be consistent with social distancing guidelines.

Like Cusco, both hotels have the Safe Travels seal, granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council and which allows travelers to identify those destinations and businesses around the world that have adopted the global health and hygiene protocols recommended by the organization so that clients and tourists can enjoy a stable trip.

Without a doubt, the former capital of the Inca Empire takes a step forward with the reactivation of the destination and adds to the economic support of the region from the hand of large hotel groups such as Marriot International.
