President Peru Francisco Sagasti took the oath yesterday to the new ministerial cabinet in a ceremony held in the Golden Room of the Government Palace.
In the swearing-in ceremony, Claudia Cornejo Mohme took office in the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism and Eduardo González Chávez in the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Both face the challenge of recovering the country's tourism industry and, above all, its connectivity to reach visitor arrival levels that it was able to achieve prior to the pandemic.
Cornejo Mohme has experience in the state sector of tourism having served as Vice Minister of Tourism, between 2011 and 2013; National Director of Tourism Development, between 2010 and 2011; President of the Board of Directors of the Tourism Training Center (Cenfotur) from August 2011 to November 2013; in Promperú as deputy director of Internal Tourism between 2009 and 2010 and as an advisor to the Executive Directorate between 2006 and 2009.
She has also held important positions in the private sector such as the general management of Confiep and consulting director of Deloitte Peru. In relation to his studies, he holds a Master's in Political Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science; Bachelor of Art, Political Science and Government from Lafayette College; in addition to having completed a diploma in Business Management from the Management School of the University of Piura.
