Marriott to open the first AC hotel in the Dominican Republic

Marriott and investment group EGI Business Group announce the opening of AC Punta Cana by Marriott in spring 2021, the property will be operated by Highgate. It is the first EGI Business Group project in the Caribbean and the first AC hotel in the Dominican Republic.

Focused on an increasingly growing trend such as the "Bleisure traveler", the combination of business and leisure, this 129-room property will expand the precision and functionality characteristics of AC to exceed the expectations of this type of guest. The hotel aims to create timeless and uncluttered spaces while the unnecessary is strategically eliminated, leaving only the important.

The hotel will have larger common areas than what the brand currently offers; such as swimming pool, gardens, gym and rest areas. Strategic, refined and useful, the hotel will have multifunctional spaces such as the AC Kitchen, the AC Market, AC Library and the AC Bar. It will also have rooms for corporate events, which is a service not currently available in this segment.

The interior will be in charge of Estudio Español Requena y Plaza, an innovative architecture and design firm whose inspiration for the project will come from the Dominican character and nature. Focused around the creativity and elegance of local roots, Requena y Plaza will mix inviting colors, art collections and touches of local crafts to create an ideal complement of contrasts in the hotel environment.

Once completed, AC Punta Cana by Marriott will be a sought-after meeting point in the heart of one of the fastest growing tourist cities in the Caribbean. Developed by EGI Business Group, an investment and wealth management firm, in collaboration with Grupo Montano, the structure will combine the architectural leanings of AC hotels by implementing modern and clean lines with a balanced use of materials and properly distributed spaces.

Los Hoteles AC is a European brand founded in 1998 with almost 160 hotels in 22 countries and territories. AC by Marriott Punta Cana will be the 11th AC in the Caribbean when it officially opens in 2021.
