The Tourism Administration, Gilson Machado Neto, participated this Thursday (17.12), at the headquarters of Embratur (Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion), in the ceremony for transmitting the position of the institution to Carlos Brito. Machado Neto, who took office as minister on Thursday morning, in a ceremony at the Planalto Palace, served as president of Embratur from May 2019 to December 2020.
As president of Embratur, the current Minister of Tourism has advanced in his mission to publicize Brazil abroad and, with the coronavirus pandemic, also within the country. Among the actions led by Machado Neto, the appointment of Brazilian personalities as ambassadors for tourism, articulation for the transformation of Embratur into an Agency and the release of visa requirements for tourists from the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan.
During the ceremony, Machado received a plaque of thanks and recognition for his work as president of Embratur. “I want to greet the new president of Embratur. As director of Corporate Management, he has always demonstrated technical management skills, in addition to being a highly aggregating person, with great loyalty and humility. For this reason, it was not me who chose him to be the new president, it was the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, ”said the minister.
Embratur's new president wished Gilson Machado Neto success in his new mission. “I am sure that he will do for the Ministry of Tourism the same exemplary and transformative work that he did for Embratur, also leaving his mark on the organ's history and, mainly, reinforcing what the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, expects from government transition has the clear objective of making Brazilian tourism have the protagonism it deserves ”, said Carlos Brito. “Gilson has always been a soldier in this cause, as he is also a deep expert in the sector”, he added.
