São Luís (MA) receives the “Safe Travels” seal from the WTTC

The capital of Maranhão already has the MTur Responsible Tourism seal and is now one of the 20 attractions of Brazil recognized by the World Travel and Tourism Council

Another Brazilian capital that has the seal of "Responsible Tourism" from the Ministry of Tourism has been internationally recognized as a safe destination. The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) awarded São Luís (MA) the “Safe Travels” certification, ensuring that the city follows health and safety protocols against Covid-19 in tourism activities. The capital of Maranhão joined two others: Salvador and Florianópolis and states such as Alagoas and Pará on the international entity's list.

Para el ministro de Turismo, Gilson Machado Neto, el reconocimiento internacional se suma a los esfuerzos del Ministerio de Turismo para promover la adhesión al sello de Turismo Responsable. “Hemos llegado a 26.000 sellos en todo el país, esto significa mantener puestos de trabajo y alentar a los turistas a viajar con seguridad sanitaria. Quiero hacer una invitación, para quienes aún no estén registrados en el sello que ingresen a la página web del Ministerio de Turismo y se registren. Eso hace que nuestro equipo, nuestros empleados y nuestro turismo sean más seguros ”, dijo.

The “Responsible Clean and Safe Tourism” seal establishes security protocols for 15 tourist activities and is present in all the capitals of the country. The highlights go to the capitals of Rio de Janeiro (1,811), São Paulo (1,506), Alagoas (602), Rio Grande do Norte (517) and Minas Gerais (452) that had a greater number of establishments with national certification. In addition, its states also received the same seal awarded to the capital of Maranhão by the WTTC.

Present in all the capitals of the country, the “Responsible, Clean and Safe Tourism” seal establishes protocols for the safety of 15 tourist activities. The states that have registered the highest adherence to the initiative so far are: São Paulo (5,045), Rio de Janeiro (3,910), Minas Gerais (2,232), Bahia (1,918) and Rio Grande do Sul (1,906), it states that also have the certification issued by the WTTC.
