Turisme de Barcelona joined the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) as a new partner, the body that represents the private sector of the travel and tourism sector at a global level.
“Turisme de Barcelona sees the WTTC as a very useful platform for post-Covid, when it comes to joining forces, generating impact and having visibility at the highest level in the field of international tourism. With this incorporation, the consortium offers its associate members a series of advantages such as being able to participate in strategic initiatives in security (with special attention to recovery from Covid 19), mobility, as well as aspects of preparation, management, and recovery in situations crisis and actions to achieve a sustainable growth of the tourism industry ”, assured Marian Muro, General Director of Tourism of Barcelona.
In turn, Gloria Guevara Manzo, president and CEO of the WTTC, welcomed Turisme de Barcelona and said that she will be able to count on the full support of the organization, to strengthen the travel and tourism sector in that entity and assist in the recovery in the face of the situation experienced by the pandemic.
The entry of Turisme de Barcelona as a partner of the WTTC will allow it to be in contact with the CEOs of tourism entities and companies in order to weave alliances and collaboration agreements. Barcelona is a destination of great international relevance and consequently it must be in the league of the great international entities participating in the decisions and challenges posed by tourism. The WTTC assumes global leadership for its influence and for being the voice of the world's most important companies, entities and destinations.
Turisme de Barcelona has been collaborating with the WTTC since last November, after obtaining the Safe Travels Stamp, which recognizes safe travel protocols worldwide. This badge allows travelers to recognize companies, entities and destinations that have adopted standardized protocols for security and prevention measures against Covid-19 and aims to inspire and restore confidence in travelers to accelerate the recovery of the industry as a result of the Covid-19. To date, there are more than 200 approved destinations and thousands of companies that have been recognized with this seal.
The WTTC groups together tourist destinations, hotels, airlines, airports, tour operators, agencies and cruise companies. Its global partners include Google, McKinsey, IBM, VISA, Deloitte, Coca Cola, Hilton, Carnival Corporation, Airbnb, UBER, Iberia, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Palace Resorts, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Radisson Hotel Group, Expedia Group , Iberostar, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Meliá, among others.
