Viva receives international recognition

The airline was awarded by CH-Aviation, the leading air data platform, as the third company with the most modern fleet in the region with an average age of 3.2 years

Viva Air is recognized as the third youngest airline in South America, and the first in Colombia, according to CH-Aviations, a leading air data platform based in Chur, Switzerland. This achievement confirms Viva as one of the leading companies in the region and a major player in aviation in Colombia and Latin America, as it has a modern and technological fleet that allows it to connect more and more people and destinations, thanks to its Low Cost model.

Currently, the airline has a fleet of 20 A320 aircraft, which are part of its order for 50 new aircraft at the Airbus factory in France, and which will arrive in their entirety until 2023. Of these 50, 35 have the the newest option of the NEO engine, and there are already five of them flying through the Colombian skies. This NEO engine option reduces the environmental impact of its operations, as the technology in its engines generates efficiencies by consuming 15% less fuel, reducing CO2 emissions by 4% and reducing the noise emitted by 50%. A commitment to competitiveness and sustainability.

“At Viva we celebrate this international recognition that exalts our fleet as the most modern in Colombia, and the third youngest in the region. As a Low Cost airline, this advantage makes us more efficient and competitive, allowing us, among others, to have the best punctuality in the country and reduce our operating costs, which enables us to always offer low prices, in line with our model, "said Félix Antelo, CEO and president of the Viva Air Group. "In addition, our order for 50 aircraft does not stop, despite the challenges and the pandemic, this year we will receive 4 NEO aircraft that come to complement our young fleet, even the most recent arrived just this week at the José María Córdova International Airport" added.

Additionally, it is important to remember that airplanes are the safest means of commercial transport in the world, as they have specialized technology and HEPA purification filters, which renew the air that is breathed in the cabin every two minutes.

Viva's renewed fleet of aircraft, and the most modern in the region, has features that allow it to travel greater distances in less time, have more efficiencies in operations, and benefits for travelers such as wider aisles, more comfortable chairs and reach to a wide network of destinations that, starting from its Medellín HUB, could even reach Buenos Aires or New York.
