DFW International Airport plans to renovate one of its original terminals

DFW International Airport plans to renovate one of its original terminals, Terminal C, which is the only one of the airport's five terminals that has not been remodeled. The airport council approved a construction start-up contract with Freese & Nichols. This company will begin the improvements in Terminal C, which has 39 gates and is one of the key centers for American Airlines operations at the airport.

Terminal C, used exclusively by American Airlines and primarily for domestic flights, currently features tile floors, low ceilings, and few premium shopping and dining options. Completed in 1974, it is the only airport terminal that had not been completely renovated.

The renovations will be a joint investment by American Airlines, user of the boarding gates of Terminal C, together with DFW Airport. 

Renovations at Terminal A, in which American Airlines also played a significant role, were completed in 2017 at a cost of roughly $ 1 billion, resulting in a brighter terminal, with larger windows to view the runways, new seats and loading ports, as well as new stores, new restaurants, and renovated security screening areas. The same is expected in the new Terminal C when all renovation works are completed.

Renovation is already underway at Terminal C, so gates C35-C39 are officially temporarily closed as they will be updated with modern equipment and a new look. They are expected to be back in service in 2022. 

American Airlines has relied even more on DFW during the pandemic, with executives describing the flights from the Texas airport as the most profitable than most other routes.

DFW International Airport offers direct service to 25 cities in the Mexican Republic allowing the Mexican passenger to enjoy the cities of Dallas and Fort Worth in approximately 2.5 hours or connect to the rest of the United States via DFW quickly and safely.
