Luis Abinader held a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization to coordinate policies to continue recovering the sector
President Luis Abinader held a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Zurab Pololikashvili, at the headquarters of that body, to coordinate policies focused on continuing to recover the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.
At the meeting, the Dominican head of state thanked the UNWTO for its support to recover tourism in our country.
He also appreciated the efforts of the UNWTO in accompanying other countries to design the best policies and bring the confidence that is needed to recover tourism.
"Our true objective is the hundreds of thousands of men and women in the Dominican Republic who earn their living through tourism every day in an honest and dignified way," said President Abinader.
In addition, he reaffirmed that the responsibility of the government he heads is to achieve the recovery of that sector and its people, whose income was cut off by the pandemic.
The president of the Dominican Republic was accompanied by the Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and the director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro.
At the end of the meeting, the president unveiled a plaque, next to the Dominican shield, which records the visit of the president to the headquarters of the World Tourism Organization, on April 18, 2021.
