Guatemalan President meets with the Secretary General of the UNWTO

Alejandro Giammattei promotes Guatemala as an investment destination at the Ibero-American Summit

Alejandro Giammattei, President of Guatemala, met this Sunday with Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

The president indicated that they talked about the challenges facing the tourism industry caused by the pandemic (COVID-19) worldwide.

The meeting was part of the working tour carried out by the president in Spain, before participating in the XXVII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, in Andorra.

According to President Giammattei, four meetings with European businessmen, mainly from Spain, are also scheduled.

On the other hand, the president held other meetings in which he met several modular hospitals. The president indicated that international cooperation will be managed to acquire them, which will contribute to the strengthening of patient care due to the COVID-19 emergency.

In addition, to promote Guatemala as an investment destination, the economic and investment plan for a period of 15 years that is intended to be implemented in the country will be presented to the entrepreneurs.
