The Bahamas announces updated entry and travel protocols

International visitors who are fully vaccinated and have passed the two week immunity period will be exempt from the testing requirements

The Government of The Bahamas announced updated public health measures and entry protocols for fully vaccinated travelers, stating:

• Effective immediately, citizens and residents of The Bahamas who are fully vaccinated, after receiving their second dose, will be exempt from the COVID-19 testing requirements when traveling between islands from New Providence, Grand Bahama, Abaco, Exuma and Eleuthera to any other island.

• As of May 1, 2021, international visitors traveling to The Bahamas from other countries who are fully vaccinated and have passed the two-week immunity period will be exempt from the testing requirements for entry and travel between islands.

Requirements for vaccinated travelers
Vaccinated travelers will still need to apply for the Bahamas Travel Health Visa and will be required to upload proof of vaccination (such as CDC or a government issued vaccination record card) with their application in lieu of the requirement of the PCR test. They will not need to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test prior to admission, undergo rapid testing mandates, or complete the daily health questionnaire during their stay. At this time, the government of The Bahamas only accepts vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, and AstraZeneca. Visitors who have received unapproved vaccinations   must follow the same protocols as unvaccinated travelers in order to enter The Bahamas.

Requirements for unvaccinated travelers
Travelers who are not fully vaccinated will need to comply with all existing entry testing requirements, including applying for a health visa for travel to The Bahamas, provide negative PCR test taken no more than five (5) days prior to departure. arrival and complete the daily health questionnaire, in addition to performing rapid COVID-19 antigen tests, if they stay in The Bahamas for more than four (4) nights and five (5) days.

Requirements for all travelers
All visitors and residents must apply for the Health Visa for travel to The Bahamas and comply with the health and safety protocols on the island, such as the use of masks, social distancing and frequent hand washing, among others. Health and safety remain the top priority and you must continue to be vigilant.

Due to the fluidity of COVID-19, the Government of The Bahamas will continue to monitor cases on the islands and will loosen or tighten restrictions as necessary. The Bahamas is an archipelago with more than 700 islands and cays, spread over 100,000 square miles, which means that conditions and cases of the virus may be different on each of the 16 islands available to receive visitors.
