In the Mexican Caribbean there are different types of museums that allow you to connect with the ancient Mayan culture and history, as well as unusual museums that allow you to explore and rediscover the natural beauty of their destinations.
 
The Mayan Museum in Cancun houses one of the most important archaeological collections in the country, with exclusive and original pieces from different Mayan sites and some temporary exhibitions.

Just 8 meters underwater between Cancun and Isla Mujeres, is the Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA), one of the most impressive in the world with 16 underwater rooms and more than 500 statues. Its facilities allow us to witness how art can help the conservation of reefs and marine fauna through the creation of artificial reefs.

In Cozumel, you will be able to appreciate the newly renovated Museum of the Island, located in a historic building dating from the 1930s. It provides visitors with a glimpse into the island's past, its traditions and its natural diversity through 11 interactive rooms and several temporary exhibitions by internationally recognized artists.

In the heart of Playa del Carmen is located the Museum of 3D Wonders where there is the possibility of interacting with extraordinary visual illusions that deceive the human eye, created by important artists of three-dimensional art. The recently inaugurated Mystika Tulum sensory museum offers an unconventional experience, one of a kind, taking its visitors on a journey of connection with Mayan cosmology, the most iconic natural sanctuaries in Mexico and paying homage to the spiritual power of animals.

Approximately 2 hours from Tulum, in the town of Tihosuco, the Museum of Caste Warfare is located. A museum created with the purpose of exhibiting, preserving and disseminating the historical events of this war that dates back to the 19th century through the exhibition of relics such as paintings, documents, photographs and weapons used during this event.

In Grand Costa Maya, a territory that integrates Bacalar, Mahahual and Chetumal, culture abounds and it is one of the few areas where Mayan traditions are still in practice to this day. In Chetumal, one of the destinations in this area, the Museum of Mayan Culture is located, which refers to the ancient civilizations of the area through a journey through earthly life, the underworld and a celestial vault, showing the most important and sacred aspects of this civilization. Likewise, a few steps from the center, the City Museum is located where the stages of evolution from the beginnings of the Mayan civilization to the arrival of the British influence are highlighted.

In the wonderful lagoon of the 7 colors in Bacalar, the Museum of Piracy is located inside the Fort of San Felipe. This enclosure was built in the years 1733 in order to defend the city from European pirates. Inside this iconic place, the historical development of the magical town of Bacalar is shown along with significant objects such as maps, weapons and utensils used by pirates in colonial times.
