Anguilla will reopen its borders on May 25

Quarantine reduced for fully vaccinated visitors

The Anguilla government announced that the island's borders will be reopened for visitors starting May 25. This, after completing the month of having closed for the effective management of a group of active cases of COVID-19 that were detected on April 22.

In light of the successful containment of this group, as well as the progressive vaccination program at the destination, the Anguilla government has reduced the quarantine period to seven (7) days for visitors who are fully vaccinated, that is, those who have had their last dose of vaccine administered at least three weeks prior to arrival on the island.

“We acted quickly and implemented a series of proactive measures to manage and contain this group of infections, along with the dissemination of vaccination. The result is that we are confident that we can now reopen safely while protecting the health of our residents and visitors, ”said Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Quincia Gumbs-Marie.

The goal of the local government is to immunize 70% of the resident population of Anguilla, which will drastically reduce the possibility of viral transmission. As of May 5, 2021, there were 8,007 people registered for the vaccine, of which 7,332 people had received their first dose, representing 58% of the target population number of 12,600 people. So far 3,173 people have received their second dose.

"Anguilla continues to be a desirable and coveted destination, which is reflected in our strong advance reservations for Memorial Day weekend (to be celebrated on May 31 in the United States)," said Director of Tourism Stacey Liburd. "We look forward to welcoming our returning guests and new friends to Anguilla, who will discover for themselves what makes our island a destination beyond the extraordinary."
