Spirit Airlines is launching two new direct international flights from New Orleans (MSY). The airline's yellow planes will connect Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY) with Cancun, Mexico (CUN) starting July 2 and San Pedro Sula, Honduras (SAP) starting July 8. These new routes, originally announced in early 2020, mark the airline's first international service from New Orleans and the only nonstop flight from MSY to Honduras. New Orleans is a city with the largest Honduran populations in the United States. Spirit flights to the Ramón Villeda Morales Airport in San Pedro Sula will make it easier for our Passengers to visit their friends and family, in addition to making tourism more accessible.
During the months of international border closures, Spirit organized humanitarian flights repatriating more than 22,000 people between the United States and nine countries, one of them being Honduras. The airline also helped people affected by hurricanes Eta and Iota, operating humanitarian flights in collaboration with the Embassy of Honduras in the United States and the Consular Network of Honduras transporting hundreds of boxes full of essential items donated by local organizations and the community.
