The Andean country joins international efforts to remove barriers to tourism and restore international mobility
Peru is the new member of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), which is why it joins the important network of more than 200 companies and destinations that are part of the body and that represent 30 percent of what the sector generates. tourism worldwide.
The country will be able to get involved in the development of joint projects, share the best practices in travel and tourism, receive information generated by the international organization, as well as have access to the main global tourism networking network.
Peru, hand in hand with the WTTC, will focus its efforts on removing barriers and restoring international mobility safely.
Within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) in Madrid, Spain, the delivery of the country's membership as part of the WTTC was held through a meeting headed by Maribel Rodríguez, Vice President of the WTTC; Claudia Cornejo, Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru; María del Sol Velásquez, Director of Tourism Promotion, and Joan Barrena, Commercial Economic Counselor.
This membership offers rights such as access to the network made up of countries around the world that collaborate to promote the tourism industry. In addition, Peru will have the opportunity to be part of the international summits and events of the tourism sector.
It should be noted that the World Travel and Tourism Council also included Peru in the list of safe destinations to travel, by granting it the Safe Travels Stamp, being one of the seven countries in South America that have this distinctive along with Argentina, Colombia, Chile , Ecuador, Paraguay and Brazil.
Also, recently during the WTTC Global Summit, Peru won the Global Champion Award for Local Public-Private Partnership for its leadership and close collaboration between the public and private sectors during this crisis.

We thank the Peruvian authorities for their trust and we will work together to promote the speedy recovery of tourism activity, severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, ”said Maribel Rodríguez, Vice President of the WTTC.
He said that the World Travel and Tourism Council provides a decisive boost to the process of reactivating tourism activity, and stressed that travel and tourism are on track for a frank recovery.
