Uruguay eliminates quarantine for those who have taken Covid-19 and those vaccinated

The government will modify the current regulatory framework in force since July 15, 2020 (Decree 195/020), which refers to the conditions of entry into the country during the health emergency

These modifications will apply to Uruguayans, resident foreigners and those who carry out exception procedures before the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In this way, those who have already carried the Covid-19 virus within the last 90 days prior to shipment or arrival in the country, will be exempted from performing the mandatory 7-day quarantine upon arrival, with subsequent PCR-RT test on the seventh day, or failing that, extend the quarantine for seven more days until the fourteen days are completed.

In this case, they must prove having had the disease by means of a positive RT-PCR test or antigen detection test result, which must have been performed between 20 and 90 days prior to shipment.

Likewise, those people who certify having received the only dose or both doses, according to the vaccine supplied against Covid-19 approved by the country of origin, within the last 6 months prior to shipment or arrival in the country, and met the deadlines corresponding waiting times to achieve effective immunity, they will also be exempted from carrying out the mandatory quarantine already detailed.

In this case, they must show the certificate issued by the health authority of the country of origin, which certifies the vaccination and compliance with the specified waiting periods.
