The first flight that directly connects the United States with Samaná has begun to operate

The new direct route of Américan Airlines Charlotte-Samaná will allow visitors to this destination to have more time to enjoy their stay in the northeast of the country

As part of the strategy to continue advancing for the recovery of tourism in the Dominican Republic, the American Airlines airline together with the Office for Tourism Promotion (OPT) in New York, made the first direct flight from Charlotte to El Catey airport, Samaná.

On this flight, which connects the United States, the main source market for tourists to Quisqueya, the travel agents participating in the Fam Trip arrived together with the Interim Director of the OPT-NY, Fernando Abreu, to see first-hand the destination Samaná .

The familiarization event with travel agents is highly relevant, since it is the first time that a direct flight has been made from Charlotte to El Catey airport, in the northeast of the Caribbean country.

This province has extraordinary tourist, cultural and historical attractions, which makes it one of the main Dominican destinations, being a connection center for American Airlines with different countries.

The airline is working with the OPTs of the main cities of the United States to sell this destination and to diversify the tourist offer, which, until now, Canada and Europe, have been the traditional markets that visit Samaná.

Directly connecting this tourist enclave with the US market has the advantage that not only would Las Terrenas, Coson, Las Galeras, among other towns in this province, but the entire northeast of the country, such as Cabrera, Rio San Juan, etc.

This direct Charlotte-Samaná connection will allow visitors to this destination more time to enjoy their stay in the northeast of the country.

The director of the OPT said that this flight is the result of great negotiations with American Airlines and Aerodom, which represents a great step forward for the Samaná destination and hopes that it will be a success and also that connectivity will be increased.

Oliver Bojos, General Director of American Airlines for the Dominican Republic, highlighted that this new destination seeks to boost the country's tourism sector and support the initiatives being carried out to reactivate such an important industry for the national economy.
