Volaris commemorates the first anniversary of its biosafety protocol

In May 2020, Volaris, the ultra-low-cost airline that operates in Mexico, the United States, and Central America, developed and implemented a Biosafety Protocol that laid the foundations for the safe recovery of the industry and became a benchmark for various sectors within Of the same.

Volaris was the first airline in the country to implement this Protocol based on the highest international standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA). One year after the start of operations under these measures, the Company has transported 18 million passengers, without a single case of transmission on board.

According to studies by Harvard University and Airbus, the plane has been the safest means of transport during the pandemic. “At Volaris we operate one of the most modern fleets on the continent. Our aircraft have HEPA (High Efficiency Particle Air) filters, which completely renew the air in the cabin every three minutes. Likewise, the top-down circulation creates a natural barrier, which prevents passengers from breathing the same air, ”said José Luis Suárez, Volaris' executive director of operations.

During the most critical months of the pandemic, the airline went from operating 420 daily flights to only 40. “Alerts had soared before the emergency declaration in Mexico, but we never imagined what we would face. Upon reaching this historic low, we knew that the Biosafety Protocol would be the decisive factor in returning confidence in travel. Today, thanks to the immense work of all the Ambassadors and the preference of our Clients, we are witness to the success of this implementation ”, Suárez pointed out.

The Biosafety Protocol has earned the airline recognitions such as the CDMX Tourist Security Stamp and the Certification of Good Sanitary Practices (BUPSY) by the Yucatan government, as well as the Global Security Seal (Safe Travels Stamp), Awarded by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

Volaris currently operates around 450 daily flights, exceeding 2019 figures, and projects a capacity of 113% for the second quarter of 2021.
