With a 7-night itinerary and departing from the Bahamas, Adventure of the Seas arrived this morning at the port of Cozumel, for which an event was held where Carlos Joaquín González, Governor of the State of Quintana Roo, Alberto Muñoz, Vice President of Royal Caribbean International for Latin America and the Caribbean and Pedro Joaquín Delbouis, Municipal President of Cozumel and the Secretary of Tourism Marisol Vanegas Pérez.
 
 “It is a special satisfaction to share the return of the cruise ships to Cozumel, the most important cruise destination in Mexico. Despite the challenges that we have all experienced due to the pandemic, I must recognize the spirit of the sector community to work on better health protocols and best sustainable tourism innovation practices that allow us to resume these trips that are a great step. for the reactivation of the island and the Caribbean for the benefit of all, ”said Governor Carlos Joaquín González.
 
 He added that, before the pandemic, the sector had a considerable rise; However, the pause in operations had a devastating impact, as the paralysis generated losses of up to 77 billion dollars, around 518 thousand jobs and 23 billion in wages were lost globally.
 
“Today we kick off this cruise as well as the next ones that will surely arrive with improved protocols to protect passengers, crews and the inhabitants of the destinations with COVID tests before embarking and the maintenance of habits such as the use of masks, improved air management and medical facilities, ”he concluded.
 
Municipal authorities of Cozumel and the state of Quintana Roo, shared that it was thanks to the joint work with Royal Caribbean that the return of cruise ships to the port of Cozumel is today a reality for the benefit of the community. It should be remembered that, at the beginning of the pandemic, the company of American origin promoted the creation of a group made up of doctors, scientists, experts in public health, biosafety, epidemiology, hotels and maritime operations recognized worldwide, called the Healthy Sail Panel. , with the intention of establishing stronger protocols for an early reactivation of the industry and thereby giving a break to the people who depend on it.
 
In addition, inside its ships, the company expanded the facilities of the medical team, as well as the personnel in charge, established a strict test protocol and highlighted that the sanitary and hygiene products are the same as those used in a hospital, for which affirmed that the return of Royal Caribbean to the Mexican port is carried out under strict sanitary measures.
 
During his speech, Alberto Muñoz, Vice President of Royal Caribbean International for Latin America and the Caribbean, said he felt very excited to return to sail and visit Cozumel, since for cruise passengers who choose to travel to the Caribbean, they want to visit the Mexican port by converting it at a mandatory stop. "We continue to work with local businesses, tour operators, shore excursion providers and vendors, not only to align with health and safety measures, but also to develop new experiences and opportunities for guests and drive economic growth," he added.
 
For his part, Pedro Joaquín Delbouis, municipal president of Cozumel endorsed the commitment to work together for tourism to consolidate a model that allows the best face of Cozumel, and the best face of our island to the world, to generate a greater influx of tourists and, therefore, more jobs and more opportunities.
 
“In Cozumel we are acting with great responsibility; We faced the economic and tourist crisis generated by the Covid-19 Pandemic, thanks to each and every one of the sectors that today are committing themselves that, with their tourist vocation and professionalism, today we can move towards what is already a fact, the tourist recovery ”, he pointed out.
 
In recent days, the company announced that for this 2021 they will offer a variety of itineraries that include visits to ports in our country, in addition to Cozumel in the Riviera Maya, cruise passengers will also be able to visit Costa Maya and on the Pacific coast: Mazatlán , Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta and Ensenada.
