The ultra-low-cost airline announced its arrival in Colombia with the Mexico City-Bogotá and Cancun-Bogotá routes
Volaris, the ultra-low-cost airline that operates in Mexico, the United States and Central America, announced its arrival in Colombia with the Mexico City-Bogotá and Cancún-Bogotá routes, which will operate four and three weekly frequencies respectively, starting on June 6 October.
At the commemorative event, within the framework of the ANATO 2021 Tourist Showcase, Constanza Olaya Cantor, Interim Vice Minister of Tourism of Colombia, commented that “the opening of these new routes by Volaris between Mexico and Colombia becomes great news and opportunity so that many more Mexicans know all the wealth that we have in our country in terms of tourism and vice versa. According to figures from ProColombia, in the last five years prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the arrival of travelers from Mexico to Colombia increased an average of 13 percent. “The arrival of Volaris is a sign of international confidence in Colombia and that the safe economic recovery is making steady progress. In addition, it strengthens our commercial relationships with a great ally such as Mexico, today the third destination with which we have the most air frequencies and seats available. With this news, without a doubt, we will get closer to Mexican travelers to invite them to live unique and transformative experiences in the six Colombian regions, ”explained Flavia Santoro, president of ProColombia.
Through the Bogotá-Mexico City route, Volaris will bring Colombians to meet their friends and family, as well as more Mexicans to get to know Colombia. Currently, the airline offers more than a thousand weekly flights from the Mexican capital, on 47 routes and has transported almost 50 million passengers, positioning itself as the largest low-cost operator in that destination.
For its part, the Cancun-Bogotá route is designed so that the exchange of travelers between both leisure destinations diversifies the tourist spots in each country. With an average of 490 flights per week, Volaris offers 16 routes in Cancun through which Customers can easily travel to other destinations in Mexico.
