UNWTO Secretary General visits Mexico
Zurab Pololikashvili and his entourage have been received by the Secretary of Tourism of the Government Miguel Torruco Marqués
The UNWTO leader, who accepted the invitation made by the head of the Ministry of Tourism to visit the country, is accompanied by his wife, Tamar Bakradze; Mikheil Ninua, Financial and Administrative Director of the Agency, and his wife Sophio Kalandarishvili; George Shanidze, Advisor to the Secretary General, and his wife Elena Guntsadze; Ion Vilcu, Director of the UNWTO Affiliate Members Department; and Esther Ruíz, from the Regional Department for the Americas.
During the visit, the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, will receive Zurab Pololikashvili at the National Palace, who will attend accompanied by his entourage.
Among the activities that this high-level UNWTO representation will carry out are its participation in an Extraordinary Session of the Inter-American Tourism Commission (Citur), of the Organization of American States (OAS), at which Secretary Torruco Marqués invited in his capacity as President; and at a meal with members of the national tourism sector. They will also visit various points of interest in the city.
They will also travel to Mérida, Yucatán, where they will give the starting signal that will mark the start of the Operational Summer 2021 of the Tourist Services Corporation "Ángeles Verdes" of the Ministry of Tourism.
In that entity they will visit the archaeological zones of Uxmal and Chichén Itzá, as well as the Magical Towns of Maní and Izamal.
At the last point of their work tour, they will move to Quintana Roo, where they will attend the "Chair of Sustainable Tourism: Architect Miguel Quintana Pali", in Xcaret. In this region you will also know some of its attractions.
