Brazil boosts its connectivity by adding a new airline

Ita Transportes begins operations in the country. By the end of the year, the company will fly to 22 domestic destinations

Brazil has another airline in operation, expanding the possibilities of air travel throughout the country. Ita Transportes Aéreos made its maiden flight this Tuesday morning (29.06), departing from Guarulhos (SP) to Brasilia (DF). In addition to the two initial cities, the new company will operate in another seven: Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC), Belo Horizonte (MG), Salvador (BA) and Porto Alegre (RS). .

For the Minister of Tourism, Gilson Machado Neto, the arrival of the new company to the skies of the country marks the confidence of entrepreneurs to invest in the tourism sector, which integrates more than 50 segments of the economy. “Our government works to attract investment to Brazil. And this will result in several benefits for the population, such as the generation of more jobs, in addition to diversifying the offer and strengthening competition between airlines, ”the minister stressed.

The company expects that 22 destinations will be covered with flights by the end of the year. Among them are Santarém (PA), Aracaju (SE), Porto Seguro (BA) and Vitória (ES). By 2022, the forecast is that destinations such as Uberlândia (MG), Imperatriz (MA), Macapá (AP) and Teresina (PI) will join Ita's air network. The flights will be carried out on Airbus A320 aircraft, with the capacity to transport up to 162 passengers.

Itapemirim Transportes Aéreos was created in 2020 and is part of the Itapemirim Group, which has 67 years of history in the country's transportation sector. Viação Itapemirim, a company in the highway segment, serves 2.5 million passengers per year in 2,700 cities in 19 Brazilian states, with more than 300 buses. The Group also has companies linked to other operations in the area, with a special focus on railways and urban transport, through light vehicles (LRT).
