Callao has received the Safe Travels seal awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) delivered the international Safe Travels seal to the Callao tourist destination, which is made up of the districts of Callao and La Punta.
In this way, the main point of entry for visitors to Peru, is consolidated as a destination that complies with all biosecurity measures against COVID-19, in order to protect tourists and tourism service providers that operate in this area. important area of the country.
On behalf of the Mincetur, the executive president of PromPerú, Amora Carbajal, presented the Safe Travels seal to the governor of Callao, Dante Mandriotti, in a ceremony that also included the participation of local authorities and businessmen from the tourism sector.
“With great enthusiasm this important recognition is granted to the Callao region, which will contribute to the responsible and safe reopening of tourism, as the conditions for its reactivation are generated and promoted. El Callao is the first image that we show our visitors and, as such, we must ensure their safety and that of all of us ”, said the executive president.
Joint work
The Mincetur highlighted that obtaining this international distinction is the result of the efforts of all public and private actors in the region to promote the reactivation of tourist activity.
The process began with the request of the regional authorities, before the Mincetur, to apply with the Callao still for the seal. Upon request, virtual and field work meetings were held, and then sectoral health protocols were implemented through surveillance plans or documents for the prevention of COVID-19.
Likewise, monitoring and inspection actions were carried out on the Callao tourist service providers, in terms of cleaning, disinfection, and waste management, to verify that they were complying with the protocols established by the Government.
As it is recalled, as part of the commitment assumed to have the Safe Travels seal, the authorities and the population must ensure compliance with the biosafety protocols. And, at the Executive level, there will be constant monitoring of safety and hygiene actions in the region.
