The Minister of Tourism of Anguilla, Haydn Hughes, welcomed the announcement made by the Vice President of Operations of American Airlines in Miami, of a new air service between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) from Anguilla, as of December 11, 2021.
Direct flights will operate throughout the year, twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays in local time; They will take off from MIA at 10:50, arriving at AXA at 14:49. The return will depart AXA at 3:40 p.m., landing in MIA at 5:53 p.m. Flights are available for sale starting today.
"It is a huge vote of confidence in our destination, as American Airlines has the equipment and route network that will allow us to significantly increase inbound tourism and further develop our tourism product," said Minister Hughes.
According to Kenroy Herbet, president of the Anguilla Tourism Council, “Access is the most critical factor for any destination, and the Miami gateway provides excellent connectivity, opening up new markets for us. This new service will create a large number of business and leisure tourism opportunities for our island ”.
The new route from the United States joins the newly announced frequencies of Seaborne Airlines, Sky High Aviaton and Cape Air that fly from San Juan (Puerto Rico), Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and St. Thomas, respectively, bound for Anguilla.
