Just 35 minutes from the City of Guadalajara is the Municipality of Chapala, Jalisco, home to one of the most important natural beauties of the state, Lake Chapala, the largest in Mexico, where you can perform a wide range of activities around of it, from piloting a plane to touring beautiful vineyards.
Walk through the air
The visitor can become an aviator for a day in a light aircraft in the company of an expert, who will teach him to fly around Lake Chapala and enjoy its beautiful landscapes.
This activity lasts approximately 2 hours and includes: flight plan leaving the Guadalajara international airport, theoretical course, 1 hour flight with certified instructor over the Ribera de Chapala, pilot certificate for one day, 2 free companions during the flight and liability insurance.
Horseback
Riding Another option is to travel on horseback along the Lake Chapala beach, the nearby mountains or the cobbled streets of the Magic Town of Ajijic and enjoy the different views of the area. The tour lasts approximately an hour and a half and begins in the southern area of the "La Floresta" subdivision, where you can choose a horse and include safety equipment to carry out the activity.
Jocotepec and its surroundings
Located at the western end of Lake Chapala is the municipality of Jocotepec, which delights its visitors with its mild climate, the incredible views of the lake and its famous carafe snow with its classic flavors of seasonal fruits, nuts, liqueurs or even flowers.
You can also enjoy relaxing walks through its main square, as well as its recently remodeled boardwalk, made up of walkways, gardens, piers and sculptures by national and international artists.

The day in Chapala can be closed with a good meal in the "Piedra Barrenada" gastronomic corridor, specialized in seafood and which has more than 10 restaurants that offer a pleasant experience accompanied by the panoramic view of the lake.
Tour through the vineyards
In the southern part of Lake Chapala is the Finca La Estramancia, a pioneer in the planting of different types of grapes in the area and that thanks to its climatic and geographical characteristics allows to obtain two harvests a year, unlike other regions.
The estate carries out a single harvest in the month of July, with varieties of wine such as sparkling rosé, rosé and young Malbec reds and Tempranillo Crianza, and it is also open for visits on Saturdays and Sundays, with a duration of 2 hours.
