Santander will be the national destination guest of honor of Anato Tourist Showcase

The destination is one of the 10 that receives the most foreigners, mostly tourists from the United States, Mexico, Spain, the Netherlands and Peru

In the framework of the most recent Board of Directors, the Association chose Santander as the National Destination Guest of Honor to the ANATO Tourist Showcase next year, an event that will take place from February 23 to 25, 2022 in Corferias, Bogotá. The news that will be notified to local entities in the coming days.

After completing a successful version of the most important commercial space for tourism in Colombia, the department, through its Governor's Office, reiterated its interest before the directors of the union to be the National Destination Guest of Honor, highlighting the great tourist potential of the region . In this way, ANATO decided to give confidence to this destination and to the businessmen of the tourist chain to expose, to the visitors of the event, its great biodiversity; wealth in natural and cultural resources such as ecotourism, rural tourism and bird watching; offer in adventure sports; historical, religious and gastronomic heritage; of events; Health & Wellness.

“It is the first time that Santander will accompany us in the event under this modality, and we are very satisfied since it has been a destination that has demonstrated its strength in the development of high-impact regional projects to highlight its wide tourist offer and competitiveness. The ANATO Tourist Showcase will be the opportunity for entrepreneurs from the department to consolidate business alliances and show Travel Agencies those products that they can offer to national and international travelers, ”explained Paula Cortés Calle, executive president of ANATO.

"We appreciate the interest of the Santander authorities and we hope to continue contributing to the development of tourism in a destination that is traditionally very attractive and strong to continue to reactivate," concluded the union leader.

This department has more than 80 municipalities that offer countless activities to enjoy natural tourism, festivals and fairs, culture, gastronomy and history, in places such as the Chicamocha National Park; the Natural Jacuzzis of the Gachas; Barichara; The Table of the Saints; the Los Caballeros and Gambita waterfalls; the Cerro del Santísimo; San Gil; among others.

It should be noted that according to ANATO calculations, based on Civil Aeronautics figures, in 2021 Santander is the department number 10 that receives the most foreigners, mostly tourists from the United States, Mexico, Spain, the Netherlands and Peru .

For its part, Palonegro International Airport has reported reaching a reactivation, between January and June 2021, of 57% in international flights, and 56% in national ones, consolidating this terminal as the ninth most important in Colombia.
