Mexico City will host the 2023 Tianguis Turístico

Yesterday afternoon, the “Selection Committee in Charge of Analyzing and Evaluating the Proposals Submitted by the States Interested in being the Headquarters of the Tianguis Turístico México 2023” held a virtual session, a meeting that was chaired by the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico , Miguel Torruco Marqués, in his capacity as president.

The head of the Ministry of Tourism reported that based on articles IX and XI of the Agreement that issued the Call to define the headquarters of the Tourism Tianguis 2023, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on August 31, 2021, The Selection Committee decided to grant the headquarters of the Tianguis Turístico México 2023 to Mexico City.

The decision of the members of the jury of said Committee was unanimous, since Mexico City met all the requirements and was the only nominated venue.

The session of the Selection Committee began with a few words of welcome from the secretary Torruco Marqués, to later carry out the verification of the quorum; analyze the proposal received and read and approve the agreements made.

The other members of the Committee who participated in the session are: Emmanuel Rey, general director of Promotion and International Affairs, and technical secretary of the Selection Committee; Humberto Hernández-Haddad, Undersecretary of Quality and Regulation of Sectur; Juan José Fernández Carrillo, president of the Mexican Association of Hotels and Motels; Josué Meza, IATA Industry Relationship Americas-Field Offices Manager, on behalf of the president of the National Airborne Chamber; María de Lourdes Prieto Márquez, general director of the National Tourism Business Council; Olivia Soriano López, Executive President of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry; José Tejada Shaar, president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism; Givette Pérez, the National Association of Hotel Chains; José Manuel de Alba Jiménez, vice president of the National Chamber of Motor Transport, Passage and Tourism.

Secretary Torruco Marqués specified that next week, together with the Head of Government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, they will give a press conference at the premises of the Head of Government to publicize the details about the Tianguis Turístico 2023 , which will also be attended by the members of the Selection Committee and representatives of the country's tourism sector.
