Global market research firm to launch new tourism report on November 3
The report, "Travel Rewired: Innovation Strategies for a Resilient Recovery," details four central pillars of innovation in the tourism industry — digital, sustainable, safe, and people-centered — and then pinpoints the contradictions between consumer and consumer priorities. Business.
With the climate emergency, the increase in social inequality and technological changes, in addition to the ongoing pandemic, the tourism industry faces immense challenges, where the actions of companies and consumer demands do not coincide.
In Europe, 57% of tourism companies expressed their commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, but only 46% take climate action. In Asia, 65% of consumers want to have a positive impact on the environment; however, only 29% of companies invest in sustainable product development to support this goal, according to Euromonitor survey data.
In the Americas, 67% of companies rate mobile check-in as an important feature for their customers, but only 31% actually offer a mobile application service.
"As the world learns to live with COVID-19, the pent-up demand for tourism will be completely unleashed," said Caroline Bremner, director of tourism research at Euromonitor International. "Companies must align their actions with consumer demand in an effort to achieve a sustainable recovery in tourism."
Bremner will also present these revelations in virtual mode at WTM London 2021 on November 3. Sign up for the full report.
