With the increase in vaccinated people and the lifting of travel restrictions around the world, cruise lines are returning in full swing to the shores of the Caribbean. Virgin Voyages' Scarlet Lady, a new luxury cruise ship, began her "inaugural" sailing season to the Caribbean, making her Bahamian debut with a "Fire and Sunset Soirées" of four nights, including a stop at The Beach Club in Bimini. Opening ceremonies were held last week in the capital and Bimini, where the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Investment and Aviation, the Honorable I. Chester Cooper and the CEO Joy Jibrilu welcomed the cruise line to the shores of The Bahamian Islands.
 
During the opening ceremony in Bimini, Deputy Prime Minister Cooper expressed optimism for economic growth considering this new partnership. “Weekly cruises will have a positive impact on the local economy, and cruise passengers will be able to experience all the joys of a day on a small tropical island, from enjoying a beautiful stretch of powdery white sand beach to expeditions that will take them deep-sea fishing, deep-sea diving, kayaking and interaction with dolphins, ”said Deputy Prime Minister Cooper.
 
CEO Joy Jibrilu echoed Deputy Prime Minister Cooper's sentiments at the opening ceremony in Nassau, “Virgin Voyages itineraries that include a day in Nassau and a day in Bimini will allow its more than 2,700 passengers to experience the taste of The Bahamas as you explore some of The Bahamas' top historic sites and attractions and interact with our warm and hospitable people. "
 
The adults-only cruise has a capacity of 2,770 passengers (including crew) and 24 food and beverage outlets. it also features numerous event venues, a smoke-free casino, a game room, a two-space fitness center, and more.
 
The Lady Scarlet will make weekly trips to Bimini and Nassau for the next seven months, from October 2021 to May 2022. In compliance with Covid-19 protocols and to ensure safety, the cruise line requires full vaccinations for both passengers. as for the staff. Passengers will also be screened for Covid-19 prior to boarding, the cost will be covered by the cruise line. Health protocols on board include sanitation, physical distancing, limited occupancy, and compliance with local government guidelines at each destination.
