PROMPERÚ plans promotional strategies to boost tourism from South American countries

The initiatives are aligned with the commercial objectives of the Pacific Alliance, the Andean Community and Mercosur

With the aim of promoting economic reactivation, through foreign trade, tourism and attracting investment, the first multisectoral working group between PROMPERÚ's commercial offices in South America was held in the city of Bogotá.

“This first round of regional work has been fruitful, since it has allowed us to assess the regional impact of the pandemic in the field of regional multilateral trade, as well as identify opportunities that arise in various markets and review the portfolio of Peruvian companies that work in their offer of products and services with resilience, all this, within the framework of the planning of strategic promotion actions for 2022 ”, said César Sánchez Miller, director of the Commercial Offices of Peru abroad of PROMPERÚ.

This meeting has served to strengthen capacities through strategies to enhance agreements between nearby countries and members of the Pacific Alliance, the Andean Community and Mercosur, promoting the internationalization of Peruvian SMEs.

In addition, technical missions were carried out to ProColombia, PROMPERÚ's counterpart agency, with which promotional actions related to the reactivation of the economy were discussed, with emphasis on job creation through export and foreign direct investment MSMEs, diversification of the regions, complementary and / or associative business opportunities, as well as the financial strengthening of the ventures.

The meeting was attended by the commercial economic advisers: Julio Polanco in charge of the Bolivian and Chilean markets; Soledad Campos de Parry in charge of the Colombian market; Gustavo García in charge of the Ecuador and Panama markets; Maria Teresa Villena, in charge of the Mexican market and César Sánchez Miller, director of the Commercial Offices of Peru Abroad of PROMPERÚ

Regarding the manufacturing and services production transformation, a technical visit was made to the Bogotá Free Trade Zone. It should be noted that this scheme has contributed to 81% of the MSMEs in this market participating in the free zone regime.
