Iberia and INGUAT have renewed a strategic agreement at FITUR

The Spanish airline will continue to promote the Central American country in the more than 90 destinations it operates in Europe

Within the framework of Fitur 2022, Iberia and the Guatemalan Tourism Institute have renewed an agreement to continue promoting the country and improve connectivity with the more than 90 destinations that the airline offers in Spain and Europe.

As part of its winter program, the airline operates this route with five weekly frequencies -until March-, which demonstrates Iberia's commitment and commitment to this market and reinforces its leadership in Latin America.

The airline will offer nearly 128,000 seats per year and, for this, it has scheduled its Airbus A330-200 aircraft model; a twin-engine device with a capacity for 288 passengers -19 in Business class and 269 in Tourist- and 15 percent more efficient in fuel consumption.

Within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) held in Madrid, the Director General of INGUAT, Mynor Cordón, and the Director of LATAM Sales and Iberia Institutional Agreements, Víctor Moneo, have renewed the agreement to continue promoting this tourist destination in the more than 90 destinations that the Spanish airline offers in Spain and Europe.

A commitment whose purpose is to promote the extraordinary cultural and natural wealth and the diversity of its heritage -among which its varied flora and fauna stand out, as well as its natural landscapes-, which demonstrates the airline's commitment to this market and reinforces its leadership in Latin America.

The agreement reached between Iberia and the Guatemalan Tourism Institute includes a series of actions through Iberia's communication channels, such as the on-board entertainment system, the on-board magazine Ronda Iberia, its profiles on social networks, banners on its iberia.com website, to cite just a few examples.

About 128,000 annual seats

Guatemala, the "country of eternal spring" enjoys a very pleasant climate throughout the year that, together with more than 309 protected areas, 33 volcanoes or 3,000 archaeological sites, have made it an attractive destination that arouses great interest to enjoy outdoor and adventure activities.

In addition, the country has obtained the Safe Travels Stamp granted by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) backed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which guarantees that this destination complies with all travel protocols. prevention and hygiene for a safe experience.

During the signing of the agreement, Moneo wanted to highlight that “Guatemala, due to its strategic location and diversity, is a key destination in Central America. For this reason, our objective has always been to gradually recover our usual flight program with the country and match the reactivation of demand with a gradual increase in capacity.”

Currently, Iberia operates the Guatemalan route with five weekly frequencies -until March-, hoping to be able to recover the daily flight it offered before the pandemic as soon as possible.

The airline will offer nearly 128,000 seats per year and, for this, it has scheduled its Airbus A330-200 aircraft model, with capacity for 288 passengers: 19 in Business class and 269 in Economy.

The Airbus A330-200 are twin-engine aircraft, with a maximum take-off capacity of 242 tonnes and a range of up to 11,500 kilometres, as well as being 15 per cent more efficient in fuel consumption, thus providing both cost efficiencies and environmental benefits.

For his part, the General Director of INGUAT, Mynor Cordón, expressed during the signing of the agreement that: “Guatemala is an ideal natural destination for the profile of the new post-pandemic tourist due to its wide biodiversity of natural areas that allow distancing and enjoying activities in contact with the nature.
