According to a report led by the hotel chain, 81% of those surveyed said they were ready to plan their vacations for 2022. Likewise, 40% said they would travel as a family and 64% said they would travel for outdoor activities

Marriott International hotels in Costa Rica are launching new family experiences adapted to the travel trends that will gain strength during 2022, mainly motivated by travelers who are more aware of the impact of their activities on the destination to be visited, as well as by the desire to connect with the local culture.

In this sense, Family Trips and Trips with Outdoor Activities are positioned, two trends that will give something to talk about this year, and for which, Costa Rica is emerging as the ideal destination.

According to the report The State of Tourism in Latin America and the Caribbean led by Marriott International (September 2021), 81% of those surveyed said they were ready to plan their vacations for 2022. Likewise, 40% said they would travel in family and 64% who travel for outdoor activities.

In this scenario, El Mangroove, Autograph Collection, launched a beachfront family area called SI&P with four new pools, with cabanas and sun loungers, and El Shack, which has a menu of signature cocktails and mocktails made with Costa Rican ingredients and infusions. of inspiration, such as pipe water, chinchiví, chicha, chicheme, dulce de leche and Cacique. The Shack also offers salads, ceviches, tiraditos, sashimi, sushi rolls and nigiris, which are according to the catch of the day.

"We start the year with this novelty, through which we reinforce our family proposal and our commitment to constant innovation in search of offering travelers the best experiences, always highlighting the local culture," said Jairo Torres, director of Marketing and El Mangroove Sales, Autograph Collection.

From this new space, the hotel enables its characteristic elongated pool as an area for adults only, and with this it aims to offer a space for all types of travelers in its facilities.

Continuing with the trends, another one that will gain strength is the Historical and Cultural Tours. After periods of restriction and leisurely travel, being able to connect with the culture of the destination to visit is a true privilege.

69% of travelers want to explore the culture of the destination they visit and 65% pay special attention to local cuisine, according to the Marriott International survey.

Taking this into account Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection launched Experience The Experience, a proposal focused on providing travelers with an enriching experience during their stay and without worries, through which they can connect with the nature and culture of Nicoya, particularly with the community of Punta Islita.

Experience The Experience is a package of 6 days and 5 nights with an itinerary that includes activities such as canopy, mixology classes with local products, horseback riding, Costa Rican cooking class with recipes such as webbed tortillas and mazamorra, kayaking through the mangrove swamp and hiking. animal observation.

“It is a facility for travelers who, during their visit to our hotel, want to connect with the local culture, explore nature and taste the unique flavor of Guanacaste. Through our activities we also intend to give visibility to our destination and to the community of Punta Islita”, said Otto López, general manager of Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection.

Finally, another of the trends that will be strengthened this year is Sustainable Travel, since tourists are giving more and more importance to the selection of companies that care about maintaining a harmonious operation with the environment and with the community. And, both El Mangroove, Autograph Collection and Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection, lead initiatives in this regard. For example, the acquisition of fresh food from small local producers, participation in tree planting and beach cleaning volunteers, not using single-use plastic containers, empowering people in the community through opportunities to empower their skills, among others.

Travelers who are part of the Marriott Bonvoy program will be able to accumulate points with their stays at El Mangroove, Autograph Collection and Hotel Punta Islita, Autograph Collection, as well as at other Marriott International properties around the world. These points are redeemable for exclusive benefits and free nights.
