Commercial attachés of powers of the Old Continent showed interest in tourism, among other industries

The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) presented to prominent representatives of the European Union a multisectoral portfolio of 73 investment projects valued at $791 million and located in 15 regions of the country.

During the presentation "Peru as a destination for investments and opportunities in sectors of interest", the representatives and commercial attaches of the European powers showed interest in doing business in sectors such as high technology, food industries, tourism, among others. Likewise, the guests agreed that our economy offers security, resilience and openness to be able to bet on the country.

It is important to note that in the last 10 years, Peru received $71.71 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows. And if we talk about the origin of investment flows from the EU to our country, 66% come from Spain; followed by France, with 17%; Germany, with 5%: and the Netherlands, with 4%”.

In the event led by the PROMERÚ Business Investment Directorate, the representatives of the European Union were reminded that, at the end of 2020, Peru's activity index was the first to recover its pre-pandemic level in the entire region, despite the hard mishaps recorded by the health emergency.

Similarly, it was noted that in recent months there has been a notable economic recovery in the country, which has been progressively consolidated thanks to the drive of productive sectors with significant growth such as agriculture, manufacturing, accommodation and restaurants.

During the presentation, data was also provided that weighs the economic, fiscal and legal virtues that Peru has to host potential direct investments from the Old Continent, especially because during 2021, we have had the highest economic growth in the region (13.3% ).

Finally, PROMPERÚ reported that last February, and for the second consecutive month, our country registered the lowest inflation compared to its regional peers; He even anticipated that throughout 2022 and much of 2023, Peru would register one of the highest growth rates among the main economies of South America, thus providing an ideal context to make investments in the more than 70 projects presented to the EU representatives. .

Peru is among the seven most diverse countries in the world in terms of ecosystems, species, natural resources, and indigenous cultures. In addition, there are 11 ecoregions that not only attract foreign investment but also generate social inclusion, through the development of key sectors such as tourism and agribusiness, the main generators of employment.
