Catalonia announces a 5k race to benefit the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation

With the slogan "United for the fight", the hotel chain will hold the seventh edition of the event that is part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives

Since the beginning of this project, the objective of the Catalonia 5K race has been to promote family unity, at the same time promote sport as a healthy lifestyle and raise funds to continue improving the well-being of hundreds of children who are fighting childhood cancer. . The directors of the hotel chain expressed that this year they hope to exceed their mark in collection and participation, thus being able to continue transforming the lives of hundreds of boys and girls from the FACCI foundation, which is why they invite the entire population to join this cause and live a pleasant experience at the Pearl Beach Club for a good cause.

The first edition of this face-to-face race in the Dominican Republic was held in February 2016 with the participation of 138 runners. In the second edition held in 2017 they had 318 participants, in the third edition more than 500 runners participated, in the fourth edition more than 1,200 runners participated and in the recent two editions more than 1,400 runners participated, raising in its last edition virtual a value of RD$ 1,350,000.00.

During all the years that the race has been held, the funds raised have been donated to the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation (FACCI); Non-profit organization in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, founded in 2003 by a group of volunteer friends, committed to improving the living conditions of children with cancer, aged 0 to 16, who are cared for at the Dr. Robert Reid Cabral Children's Hospital (HIRRC).

In this 7th edition, an estimated 1,500 runners are expected; As every year, prizes will be awarded to the first three places in the male and female categories. The executives also stated that, by registering with a contribution of RD$1,200.00 for adults and RD$700.00 for children under 12 years of age, participants will receive a kit that will include: cap, backpack, T-shirt, bib number and participation medal. In addition, all runners will participate in a raffle in which, among others, air tickets and stays at Catalonia Hotels in the Caribbean and Europe will be raffled.
