Between Carnival, Easter and Labor Day in 2022, they add up to around 173 million dollars in tourist spending
The tourist reactivation advances with more and more force. This is demonstrated by the final figures registered by the Ministry of Tourism in the first three holidays of the year. Between Carnival, Easter and Labor Day in 2022, they add up to around 173 million dollars in tourist spending, which meant 33 million dollars more than the sum of the same holidays in 2019, prior to the pandemic.
Regarding what was generated by travelers during the holiday of May 1, 2022 in Ecuador, it was around 48 million dollars, which represents a growth of 48% compared to the same season in 2019.
The provinces with the highest tourist spending on this holiday were Manabí with 6.73 million dollars, followed by Pichincha, Santa Elena, Azuay, Guayas, Tungurahua, Imbabura, Galápagos and Chimborazo.
On its side, the average daily accommodation rate reached 64 dollars, 21% above 2019, while the number of trips exceeded the same pre-pandemic holiday by 31%, with Manabí being the most visited province, along with Pichincha, Santa Elena, Guayas, Azuay, Napo, Tungurahua, Imbabura, Esmeraldas and Chimborazo.
The accommodations had an average occupancy of 41%, which represents a growth of two (2) percentage points compared to the holiday of May 1, 2019.
