A supporter of World Runner's Day, Westin Hotels & Resorts – part of Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio of 30 extraordinary hotel brands – today announced its partnership with Strava, the leading social platform for athletes and the world's largest sports community, to reward sports fans of all kinds for getting their heart rate up starting June 1. Through this new collaboration, 500 Marriott Bonvoy members will have the opportunity to earn 40,000 Marriott Bonvoy points each by completing the global RunWESTIN challenge using the Strava app.
As the leading wellness brand in the hospitality industry, Westin has supported World Runner's Day for more than five years as a means to encourage guests to stay active while on the road. Westin helps guests overcome travel obstacles through its six pillars of wellness: Sleep Well, Eat Well, Move Well, Feel Well, Work Well and Play Well. Inspired by the brand's "Move Well" pillar, this new collaboration with Strava continues to build on Westin's excellent programming.
"Westin's philosophy has always been about empowering our guests to maintain, and even improve, their well-being while traveling, so they leave feeling better than when they arrived," said Jennifer Connell, Global Brand Leader, Westin Hotels & Resorts and Vice President of Distinctive Premium Brands of Marriott International. "With this in mind, and inspired by our core pillar Move Well, our exclusive partnership with Strava aims to empower a global community of sports lovers and Marriott Bonvoy members to make wellness a priority and be rewarded for it." ."
The 'RunWESTIN Challenge'
Marriott Bonvoy members who participate in the Challenge must complete 10 hours of physical activity during the month of June through running. As well as other types of exercise such as walking, bicycling, wheelchair use, and hiking. The 600 minute or 10 hour monthly activity challenge is based on the American Heart Association's recommendation to get at least 150 minutes – about 2.5 hours – of physical activity per week. Upon completion of the challenge at the end of the month, 500 participating members will be randomly selected to receive 40,000 Marriott Bonvoy points each.
How to take part?
Marriott Bonvoy members can sign up through the Strava app. The Challenge begins on June 1 and ends on June 30 at 11:59 pm in each participant's time zone. Members can sign up anytime in June and complete their 10 hours of activity throughout the month to be eligible for 40,000 points.
"Strava empowers athletes around the world to find joy through movement," said David Lorsch, Strava's Chief Revenue Officer. "We're thrilled to celebrate World Runner's Day with Westin and inspire Marriott Bonvoy members around the world to get active with the power of Strava Challenges this June."
