"We have high expectations for this season and we aim to beat the record of visitors we had in 2019" said Juan Carlos Begué, President of the sky center
The slopes present optimal conditions thanks to the snowfall of the first days of June and the low temperatures that allowed an important work of artificial snow making.
“We have high expectations for this season, and we aim to beat the record number of visitors we had in 2019. Last year we grew 56% in national tourism and this year we aim to surpass ourselves. It is a great pride for us to celebrate 23 uninterrupted years in this beautiful city. In 1999 we opened the hill with the dream of developing the best service for our visitors and not only did we achieve that, but we also positioned ourselves as synonymous with innovation and modernity. All this is thanks to the collaboration of a great team and all those present who choose this place every season” said Juan Carlos Begué, President of Cerro Castor.
Located just 26 km from Ushuaia, Cerro Castor offers multiple options for winter sports and entertainment: more than 35 slopes with different levels of difficulty, 13 lifts, the largest snowpark in South America, 1 ski cross circuit, 1 area for beginners and off-piste, all in an area of more than 650 skiable hectares. In addition, it has an ice skating rink, a cross-country skiing circuit and an extensive network of artificial snow, guaranteeing snow to the base of the complex throughout the season.
The driving of the Descent of Torches on an afternoon where a spectacular snowfall was present, was in the hands of the journalist and announcer, Nicolás Magaldi and the local driver Florencia Palumbo. The event was attended by important authorities who accompanied this iconic festival for the province: Fernanda Rodríguez, National Director of Popular Festivals and Events, Yanina Martínez, Secretary of Tourism Promotion of the Nation and Dante Querciali, President of In.Fue.Tur .
In addition to the torchlight descent, there were fun activities for the whole family, from gastronomic tastings, games and musical and artistic shows with local artists, which began at 9:30 am. It ended with the live show of the Estelares national band.
“We have been working for many years so that this emotional provincial event grows. We gather the efforts of our work team so that the result is more positive. For this new edition, which required great logistical work due to the implementation of an extended day of free activities for the whole family, we managed to receive more than 6,000 people who enjoyed an incredible night” expressed Francisco Paranza, Marketing & PR from Cerro Castor.
