The Brazilian international air network exceeds 2020 levels

"We have been working hard to promote Brazil in strategic markets and we have held meetings with airlines to increase our connectivity" said the President of Embratur Silvio Nascimento

The international air network in Brazil continued to recover in July 2022, operating again above 70% of the figures reached in 2019. The 3,751 flights registered in the last month are equivalent to 72.33% of the capacity of July 2019 and they already exceed all of 2020, when 22,353 flights arrived in the country.

“We have been working hard to promote Brazil in strategic markets and have held meetings with airlines to increase our connectivity. And, even in the face of difficulties with ticket prices and strikes in Europe, being able to maintain the recovery scenario shows that we are on the right track”, says the president of Embratur, Silvio Nascimento.

In June, the Brazilian international air network registered 3,806 arrivals, equivalent to more than 76% of the capacity registered in 2019 and a 7.29% increase in connectivity compared to May.

The month of July registered a small decrease of 1.44% compared to June, but still corresponded to an increase of 260.43% in international connectivity compared to the same month of 2021. Connectivity is also below that presented in 2019, last year before the restrictions imposed by Covid-19. That year, Brazil received 35,587 flights in the first seven months.

According to the manager of Competitive Intelligence and Marketing for Tourism (GICMT), Fernando Paranhos, the scenario of greater connectivity must continue. "According to our investigations with the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) and the airlines, 89 new flights and 44 additional frequencies are planned for February of next year," he says.
