The Capital of the Center of the World was recognized at the World Travel Awards as "South America's Leading City Destination 2022", reaffirming its position as an international destination
This August 31, Quito was recognized, for the seventh time, as the leading tourist city in South America, thanks to the votes of classified industry executives and end consumers. The award ceremony was held at the Caribbean & The Americas Gala Ceremony 2022 event, at Sandals Montego Bay, Jamaica.
We extend our fraternal greetings to the Ecuadorian participants who were awarded these awards, held annually by the World Travel Awards, and which represent the highest recognition of excellence within the tourism industry, where companies, entities and destinations are rewarded through a wide variety of prizes.
With this recognition, Quito, located in the heart of the Andes, consolidates itself as a leading destination thanks to the thousands of tourists who choose it every year for its prodigious mountains, fabulous landscapes and its Historic Center, where pre-Hispanic, colonial, traditional and modern coexist harmoniously.
The natural paradises of the Metropolitan District, its abundant flora and fauna and its adventure tourism offer, as well as its gastronomic proposals, also made it worthy of this distinction.
The invitation is open for local, national and foreign tourists to visit the capital of the center of the world and discover its valuable historical, cultural and artistic heritage; in its gastronomy; and in its landscapes and natural spaces because its history begins in Quito.
