New report reveals positive data for tourism in the United States

According to the TSA, overall travel exceeded pre-pandemic numbers for the first time over Labor Day weekend.

Data from travel insurtech company, Squaremouth.com, says this trend will continue for the rest of the year.

Post-summer travel bookings on Squaremouth.com are already up more than 60% from last year and 96% from 2019.

Post-pandemic, travel insurance has remained in demand.

While travel had yet to pick up as of Labor Day 2022, travel insurance sales through Squaremouth surpassed pre-pandemic numbers last summer.

International travel is approaching pre-pandemic levels.

85% of trips booked on Squaremouth.com for the rest of the year are to international destinations, up from 89% in 2019.

Year after year, European countries are experiencing the largest increase in tourism.

Trips to Italy, Spain and France have increased by more than 100%, while the popular pandemic destination, Turks and Caicos Islands, has decreased by 72%.

Fewer flights were delayed and canceled over the Labor Day weekend, compared to July 4 and Memorial Day this year.

Squaremouth data shows consumers remain more concerned about flight delays, missed connections and baggage benefits than they were last year.
Interest in Travel Delay coverage has grown 74%, while Lost Baggage and Delayed Baggage are up 33% and 30%, respectively.

In contrast, the threat of travel concerns related to COVID-19 continues to recede.

Squaremouth reports a nearly 20% decrease in consumers seeking coverage for COVID-19 compared to last year.
Respectively, searches for Cancel for any reason, which remained popular during the pandemic, are down 37%.

Methodology: Squaremouth.com hosts the largest number of travel insurance providers and policies in the market. Squaremouth Analytics compared thousands of travel insurance policies purchased for travel after Labor Day through the end of the year in 2019, 2021, and 2022 to establish travel trends.
