Puerto Rico enhances its international promotion

The Caribbean destination is active with an intense agenda of events and activations to increase the demand for international tourism

Starting this week, Puerto Rico is the host destination of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace. A two-day event that offers tour providers the opportunity to meet in person with wholesalers from around the world who promote Caribbean vacation travel.

Discover Puerto Rico hosted journalists on a pre- and post-conference familiarization trip to experience activities in the metropolitan area, including culinary tours of Old San Juan, rum tours at Casa Bacardi and Ron del Barrilito, cooking classes and inspections in different properties. 

Last week, the Discover Puerto Rico team attended Brand USA Travel Week Europe 2022, held at the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Germany. This annual event brings together key people in the US and European travel industry to discuss trends, challenges, innovations, and the opportunity to drive future visits to the United States. During Travel Week, Leah Chandler, chief marketing officer for Discover Puerto Rico, had 21 one-on-one media meetings, while Francisco Blanch had 33 one-on-one business appointments and Brad Dean attended the Brand USA CEO Summit, participating in eight media roundtables and speaking at a press conference titled 'Unexpected USA'. Beyond the appointments, the event included market updates,

The DMO sales team hosted a tri-state sales mission in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia the week of September 26, reaching a combined total of over 75 key buyers, agents, meeting planners and media in these markets. Local partners at the event included Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve, El Conquistador Resort, The Royal Sonesta, Wyndham Grand Rio Mar, St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Condado Collection, Caribe Hilton, Dragonfly Global DMC and the Puerto Rico Convention Center. Experiences at the events included authentic cuisine and a bombastic and plenary presentation. Notably, the New York event took place at The Edge's Peak Restaurant and Bar within Hudson Yards, a new landmark in the city, and saw the inclusion of Chocobar Cortes.
