Arajet connects the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica

The low-priced Dominican airline today officially inaugurated its commercial operations with direct flights between San José and Santo Domingo

Arajet, the Dominican low-price airline, officially inaugurated its commercial operations today with direct flights between San José and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, after receiving all the operating permits from the Costa Rican authorities. Thus, San José joins the more than 20 destinations that already receive the Airline from Dominican lands.
Initially, the Costa Rican capital will be connected non-stop with Santo Domingo with four weekly frequencies, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, which will depart from the Juan Santamaría International Airport at 10:00 a.m., to the Las Américas International Airport, arriving at 3:00 p.m. . The flight from Santo Domingo to Costa Rica will depart during the same days at 08:15, arriving in San José at 09:15.

“For the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism and for the sector in general, the start of operations of the Arajet airline from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is of the utmost importance. There is an important market to and from the island where travelers for tourism, families and businesses are combined. Likewise, it opens up countless possibilities for connections beyond with many destinations in the Caribbean, which we are sure will strengthen Arajet's operations to our country”, said William Rodríguez, Minister of Tourism.

“Costa Rica is the destination with the most frequencies and number of seats that we are serving. At Arajet we seek to strengthen commercial, tourist, cultural ties, as well as promote economic development opportunities between the two nations. We want more Costa Ricans to come to know the tourist offer of our country and that more Dominicans discover every corner of Costa Rica, traveling non-stop and with really low prices! Traveling with us will be an experience, with a warm, human and world-class service ̈, stated Víctor Pacheco Méndez, president of Arajet.

“As manager of the Juan Santamaría International Airport, and continuing with the commitment to offer “pura vida” experiences to our passengers through direct flights, we celebrate the arrival of Arajet as the 24th airline that adds its transit through this house; Thanks to its Costa Rica-Dominican Republic connection, there are already 34 destinations available through the country's main air terminal. Their presence in Costa Rica is the result of good management between the public and private sectors, where the airline, the ICT and us participate as administrators of the SJO”, said Ricardo Hernández, General Director of AERIS.

The Dominican Republic has a population of more than 10 million inhabitants and is the leading tourist destination in the region given the diversity of activities it offers its visitors. Costa Ricans who fly with Arajet will enjoy tropical beaches minutes from Las Américas International Airport, including Boca Chica just 10 minutes away, Bayahibe 30 minutes away, Punta Cana an hour and a half away, and Samaná two hours away. They will also be able to taste the delicious Dominican cuisine in local restaurants and visit the Colonial City, the oldest in Latin America.

With an extensive route network of 22 destinations in 12 countries, Arajet expects to fly more than 7 million passengers in the next 5 years and consolidate in Santo Domingo a robust hub of air connections, with increasingly convenient flights and fares to boost connectivity between the Americas and the Caribbean.

“With the arrival of Arajet in Costa Rica, we seek to invigorate and promote the commercial aviation industry, democratizing the skies and making it possible for more people to travel by plane and enjoy the wonders of the Dominican Republic and, later, connections with the main destinations in the Americas and the Caribbean” concluded Pacheco.

Arajet breaks into the Costa Rican market with more and better alternatives for non-stop travel to Santo Domingo, shorter flight times, convenient itineraries, a warm and humane service, and fares from USD 188, round trip with taxes included, which can be purchased at www.arajet.com.
