The Virgin Voyages cruise company is making the MerMaiden voyage in one of the most important and interesting voyages through the Caribbean. The trip set sail from Miami and arrived this Tuesday, November 1, at the paradisiacal island of Roatán as the first port.
It is a trip aboard the Valient Lady that marks two significant milestones: the arrival of one of the most modern and luxurious cruise ships in the world with more than 2,700 passengers and the visit of British businessman Richard Branson, owner of the Virgin Voyages company.
The agenda for this cruise is seven days and six nights on a Halloween-themed trip from Miami and enjoying Roatán, San Juan in Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and The Beach Club At Bimini in Bahamas and returning back to Miami. The cruise company highlights Roatán as a charming place to dive among beautiful corals and the diverse marine life it possesses, being part of the second largest reef system in the world. Richard Branson even hired a company in Chicago specialized in buying coffee, to offer the best coffee from Honduras on the cruise, and said company chose the coffee from San Marcos de Ocotepeque.
The visit to Roatán of the British billionaire businessman, Richard Branson, known for his Virgin brand, owner of the Virgin Voyages company and the Virgin Group aircraft fleet, is a remarkable event for the country.
The tycoon and philanthropist is the 12th richest person in the UK, according to Forbes. He has his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has received several awards for his support of environmental and humanitarian causes.
“Today we have the privilege of receiving in Roatán for the first time the Valient Lady ship of the Virgin Voyages company with 2,700 passengers in high season, which means an achievement for this government and we are very happy that this great number of tourists, which is a very interesting market segment because it has a high level of consumption”, said the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Luis Chévez.
Likewise, Luisa Maluf, in charge and coordinator of the tourist groups, accompanied by Vice Minister Chévez, gave a tour of the entire cruise ship, explaining details: 8 floors, 17 decks, 1,300 cabins, 78 luxury suites, 16 bars, restaurants, discos, gym, swimming pools, among other attractions. The event culminated with the delivery of a plaque of recognition by the IHT and which marks an important date, such as the first visit to the country of the imposing Valient Lady cruise ship.
