Nuevo León: craft and gastronomic wealth

The artisan, gastronomic and tourist exhibition of this entity was inaugurated in the Punto México space of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur), which will be in force during the month of November

The head of Sectur welcomed the artisans who will exhibit and market the creations of their magical hands to the visitors of this space destined to the promotion of the 32 entities of the country, which today welcomes the thriving state of Nuevo León .

He indicated that this beautiful entity of the country is a destination that meets the demands of national and foreign tourists, with tourist attractions such as Paseo Santa Lucía, the longest artificial river in Latin America and considered one of the 13 wonders of Mexico made by the man; Fundidora Park; the Macroplaza; the Boca de Potrerillos archaeological zone; its emblematic hill of La Silla; and exceptional gastronomy, to name a few.

In addition, its varied tourist offer is complemented by three magnificent Magical Towns: Linares, Bustamante and Santiago; the latter next year will be integrated into the Magical Color Routes initiative, with which the urban image of the destination is rehabilitated through the painting of facades and the creation of murals in public spaces.

He pointed out that, during this month of exhibition, visitors to Punto México will have the opportunity to learn a little more about the culture of Nuevo León and acquire handicrafts in saddlery, wood and pottery, as well as typical products, among which are: regional sweets , beef jerky, spirits and craft beer.  

“We know that the crafts made by the people of Mexico are of the highest quality, because they are the result of centuries of history and accumulated wisdom. Such is the importance of the artisan sector in our country, that we occupy the third place in the world in the elaboration of this type of products, which is currently the livelihood of just over 8 million artisans”, commented Torruco Marqués.

He highlighted the important role of craft activity in the tourism sector, which has been strengthened in each of the states of Mexico, as is the case of Nuevo León, which received 10.4 million passengers between October 2021 and September 2002. .

The Secretary of Tourism stressed that, at the national level, it is estimated that by the end of 2022, 42 million 301 thousand international tourists will have arrived, only 6% below 2019, leaving a historical economic spill of 26 thousand 121 million dollars, that is 6.3 % more than what was captured in 2019. 

He specified that this recovery is thanks to the policies ordered by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during the pandemic of not restricting international flights, the implementation of biosanitary protocols and the vaccination strategy, which in turn help to comply with the premise of doing tourism a tool for social reconciliation.

The head of Sectur reiterated the invitation to participate in the International Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos to be held at the end of November next year in Los Angeles, California; as well as the Tianguis Turístico México, which will take place in Mexico City from March 26 to 29, 2023. 

"In the same way, join the digital promotion platforms: 'VisitMéxico' and 'Pueblos Mágicos, México Desconocido', through which they can spread the image of Nuevo León to other latitudes," he declared. 

For her part, the Secretary of Tourism of Nuevo León, Maricarmen Martínez Villarreal, thanked the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, for the invitation and opportunity to welcome the attendees of Punto México to the state of Nuevo León.

“Here at Punto México, from November 3 to 25, we want to give visitors a sample of what we want you to see, touch and feel when they visit Nuevo León, we are sure that they will be able to live great experiences, if you love nature, adventure , you like the northeast culture, or you feel passion for sports, this is the right place”, he emphasized.

Martínez Villareal assured that in the state of Nuevo León they work daily so that tourists enjoy a world-class tourist infrastructure that is reflected in its hotels, hospitals, exhibition and convention venues, and many more services related to these, which together with the diversified cuisine and natural attractions make Nuevo León a must-see destination for visitors from the region, Mexico and the world.

Present at this event were the Undersecretary of Tourism, Humberto Hernández Haddad; Mauricio Zavala Villarreal, general director of the Nuevo León Tourism Development Corporation; Mario Alberto Salinas Treviño, director of Support and Development for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of the Ministry of Economy of Nuevo León; Mavis González Gandy, Coordinator of Tourism and Cultural Promotion of the Representation of the State of Nuevo León in Mexico City; among other guests.
