Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants 2022: Ecuador wins 6 awards

Ecuador advances with firm steps to become the best gastronomic destination in the region

On Tuesday night, with the revelation of the list of the 2022 edition of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants, Ecuador won six awards in this event that recognizes the best restaurants in the region.

The Nuema restaurant in the capital was ranked 24th on the 50 Best list, where the use of local ingredients for the preparation of its avant-garde menu was highlighted. This same establishment received the distinction as the Best Restaurant in Ecuador, and its owner, María Pía Salazar, was named Best Pastry Chef in Latin America 2022, a title sponsored by República del Cacao. "This recognition is for Ecuador, a wonderful country, mega biodiverse and of which we should feel proud because it has a territory with so much to show," said chef Salazar.

At the award event held in Yucatan, Mexico, the award-winning establishments on the 51-100 list, where the Casa Julián and Mikka restaurants in Guayaquil, and Quitu in the capital are located, were also remembered.

The Minister of Tourism, Niels Olsen, congratulated these restaurants and their owners for the awards, stressing that they are raising the name of Ecuador. "Ecuadorian gastronomy is the best kept treasure in the region," said the Minister, commenting on the great offer of flavors that the country has and is ready for the world to enjoy.

With the presence of Ecuadorian restaurants in events of international importance such as Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants, it is confirmed that the creativity, innovation and flavors of the country advance in the conquest of foreign palates.

The National Government works on international promotion actions that promote the gastronomic sector of Ecuador to strengthen its presence in the world.
