Guatemala continues to promote its tourism

Seeks to captivate more Salvadorans to visit the country for tourism purposes

The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism -INGUAT- in conjunction with the Guatemalan embassy in El Salvador, carried out a trade mission in the capital of the neighboring country in which a destination presentation was made, highlighting the country's potential for tourism. More than 100 Salvadoran businessmen participated. The Guatemalan delegation was made up of representatives of the tourism sector including tour operators, hotels, airlines, ground transportation, among others.

On this occasion, emphasis was placed on publicizing the offer and services of the main destinations and attractions of the Lake Atitlán basin such as: the Palopó Route, the Coffee Ecological Route and the Tul Tour, among others. A cultural sample was also offered, through the folkloric ballet of the Municipality of San Pedro Sacatepéquez, San Marcos.

In addition, a business conference was held with the participation of 25 Guatemalan businessmen who presented their products and services with their Salvadoran colleagues, generating more than 2,000 business appointments.

The General Director of INGUAT, Anayansy Rodríguez highlighted "The objective of these activities is to increase the number of tourists from El Salvador during the year-end holidays and position Guatemala as a priority tourist destination through the commercialization of our services and tourist products”.

Data from the Market Research and Analysis Department indicate that this year 547,723 Salvadoran tourists have visited Guatemala for tourism purposes, which represents 39% of all non-resident tourists who have arrived in the country.
