Guatemala bets on internal tourism by the end of the year

In order to motivate Guatemalans to get to know their country and influence local economic development, INGUAT promotes a promotional strategy called "Guatemala is our land" as an opportunity to demonstrate that our country has spaces for citizens to enjoy. of different activities and gastronomy at this time of year, especially in the adventure and culture segments.

For this strategy, digital channels will be used to disseminate the hierarchy destinations 4 and 5 contemplated in the Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism of Guatemala 2015-2025, among them: Guatemala City, La Antigua Guatemala, Lake Atitlán and its towns, the Park Tikal National Park, Chichicastenango, the Pacaya Volcano, the Quiriguá Archaeological Park, the Río Dulce National Park, the Semuc Champey Natural Monument, the Tak'Alik Ab'Aj Archaeological Park, and San Felipe Castle, the La Aurora Handicraft Market, among others.

The General Director of INGUAT, Anayansy Rodríguez pointed out "The end of the year festivities give the opportunity to moments that can be enjoyed with the family, with national and foreign friends, or individually, so with this dissemination action, we want to invite to the different audiences to visit the destinations and tourist attractions that the country offers”.

The projections of the INGUAT Market Research and Analysis Department indicate that the mobilization of trips for domestic tourism could reach 1,700,000 trips, with an economic benefit of Q.1,744 million during the end of the year.

The INGUAT authorities also urged Guatemalans to do internal tourism responsibly, informing themselves about the destination to visit, and urging them to respect the customs and culture of the place, as well as to leave the attractions that are visited clean.
