Paraguay will have hot air balloons as an attraction in 2023

The first balloon flights in the Ciudad del Este area could begin in the second half of next year

The Minister of Tourism, Sofía Montiel de Afara, shared this morning with media references; her in order to communicate her tour of the Republic of Türkiye, where she met with businessmen who are interested in operating hot air balloons in Paraguay and visited the factory where the balloons are built, as well as the accessories that are part of it.

In this series of meetings it was confirmed that the first balloon flights in the Ciudad del Este area could begin in the second half of next year.

The minister indicated that progress is being made very well and revealed that the intention of the businessmen is to settle in Ciudad del Este but that the trips are binational and that Brazil is one of the destinations. “What is being seen in that people go up in Ciudad del Este do all the overflight through the areas of the falls, Itaipu and that they have the possibility of descending in Brazil. It's something that entrepreneurs are looking at," she remarked.


Turkish Airlines interested in Paraguay
During her visit to Türkiye, the Minister of Tourism also signed a cooperation agreement with the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, to initiate a cooperation process that facilitates the arrival of Turkish visitors in the country.


Within this framework, a first meeting was held with the president of Turkish Airlines, Ahmed Bolat, to explore the possibility of including Paraguay in the airline's route. The company was interested in being able to reach the country, but studies still need to be carried out and, above all, increase the flow of passengers for the route to be commercially viable.
Even so, the airline agreed to promote Paraguay. The possibility was even opened for the company to allocate a special flight so that representative figures of Turkish cinema, as well as journalists and businessmen could arrive in the country and that figures from Paraguay could also visit Türkiye.

The cooperation agreement signed with Türkiye will also allow work on the training of professionals in the tourism sector.
