Antigua and Barbuda stands out at the International Conference on Wellness Tourism

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority (ABTA) continues to draw international attention to the twin islands as an emerging health and wellness destination

Its 365 beaches; its lush landscape and its environmental initiatives are some of the highlights that the Director of the Wellness area of ​​the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, Tameka Wharton, addressed at the last International Conference organized by the Wellness Tourism Association in the Dominican Republic. 

The Wellness Tourism Association (WTA), of which Antigua and Barbuda is a member, is a global network that includes DMOs; providers; travel agents, retreat leaders, media, among others who are part of this emerging sector of tourism.

As a guest at the conference, Wharton described several of Antigua and Barbuda's wellness tourism initiatives launched by ABTA. These arose as a result of dialogue between the WTA and the country's wellness service providers. These include: an audit of the destination's wellness offerings, increased access to training sessions for wellness service providers, and improved promotional material to publicize Antigua and Barbuda's growing directory of businesses that cater to travelers. looking for wellness experiences.

In early November, Wharton also participated in the World Travel Market Insight Stage as a panelist to discuss the Antigua and Barbuda wellness brand on: "The Future of Destination Management and How Wellness Aligns." 

The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority took advantage of both events to present a new video about the destination aimed at the traveler seeking health and wellness tourism. Antigua and Barbuda: Your Wellness Destination, presents the natural sensory attributes of the islands; organic products and restaurants under the farm-to-table concept; sound healing; yoga and wellness retreats, accommodation and other experiences in the field.
